You can right-click you desktop and select Personalize. Click Display Setting at the bottom. Try a higher setting that matches what you monitor can handle. Step 1: Right-click on the desktop and click Personalize option to open the Personalization section of the Settings app.
Step 2: On the left pane, click Colors. Now, on the right-side, scroll-down the page, and make sure that the option titled Title bars and window borders is turned on. In the April Update and earlier versions of Windows 10, Windows automatically chooses a window color that matches your desktop background. How can I get rid of that? The image filled my monitor yesterday. In reply to DaveM's post on March 26, Hi Dave, Neither of your suggestions has remedied my issue. Right click your Desktop, you should see the control panel for your graphics card on the resulting menu, open that, and look for an Aspect Ratio setting, try each option on that page to find the best fit for your screen If that does not fix the problem, go to the support page for your device on the manufacturers website, then download and install the video driver they recommend, it may well be an older version to the one you are currently running Hi Dave, Neither of your suggestions has remedied my issue.
Hi Stewzykins Are you using a PC with a separate monitor, or a laptop? Changing the aspect ration should change the fit and size on your screen, was that option available to you in the video card Control Panel? In reply to DaveM's post on March 27, Hi Stewzykins Okay, then on your AOC Monitor, press the Menu button on either the bottom or side and on the on-screen controls, look for an autofit or aspect ratio setting.
Hi Dave, Auto fit was already selected. Hi Stewzykins The only things that can cause black borders around your screen are, the resolution is set way too low graphics card drivers , Aspect Ration is set incorrectly, or the settings on your monitor. Hi Dave, Thanks for your trouble however I have had the desktop for ten years now along with the HD screen and all was well until I did a microsoft update around 9 months ago.
Hi Stewzykins While I am well adept at editing the Registry, I have never seen that fix previously, so I cannot say for sure, if that is the fix you need, it may work for you, I hope it does, just make sure to backup your registry before performing the edits, in case things go wrong. By changing the display frequency, you may fix the black border problem. Based on my previous experience, Windows may display a resolution using a different frequency than your monitor natively supports.
For example, it may display x 57Hz instead of 60Hz. This can cause black borders. To fix this problem: a Ensure you have Windows 10 Anniversary installed. Click Start, then type in "winver" no quotes and press Enter. A window will appear with the Windows 10 version you're running - look at the "OS Build" number in particular. If it does not then read this article on how to install the Anniversary Edition. Video drivers are updated regularly, so it is worth checking at least once a month.
To do so: click Start, then type in "Display Settings" no quotes ; wait for Display Settings to appear in the list and click it. Scroll down and click on "Advanced Display Settings"; a new window will appear. Scroll down and look for the "Display adapter properties" option and click that.
A new window will appear; under the "Adapter" tab, there should be an option that says "List all modes" - click that, then try adjusting the display resolution and frequency to different settings to remove the black border from the screen. I hope that helps. Got a Computer Question or Problem? Ask Dennis! Filed under:. Server Motherboard.
